Recently, on a shopping trip to Michaels, I found their Halloween floral planters and floral picks 40% off. This inspired an impromptu floral arrangement project perfect for Halloween or all year long decor. I took a liking to this amazing skull and purple mushroom planter perfect for a mystical looking arrangement to use in my newly renovated bathroom. Once I gathered all the floral picks that I felt I needed to fill the planter, I headed over to the floral arranging section of the store and picked up a piece of floral foam. They happened to have a cone shape that perfectly fit down into my skull planter. After returning home with my newly found treasures, I got to work on making my arrangement.

Step 1:

I cut the floral foam with a serrated knife at the desired height. But first, I put the foam down into the planter and marked the foam with a marker so I knew where to cut.

Step 2:

I started inserting the floral picks into the foam to create the desired arrangement. (Hint: I had a hard time at first getting the floral picks to go into the foam as far as I needed. I took my pencil and poked it down into the foam to create a hole for the floral pick to go down into. This made the process so much easier.)

Step 3:

I kept building my arrangement by adding the floral picks at different heights until I created the look I was aiming for. You don’t need to think too hard in this step. Just start placing your plants in random places and move them around if you feel it doesn’t have the look or feel you are going for. It’s all trial and error and it’s important to have fun!

Step 4:

During my shopping adventure, I found this amazing purple moss to add to the base of my arrangement to hide the foam. I simply just shoved in pieces of the moss around the arrangement letting little bits hang over in places until I was happy with the way it looked.

Once completed, I found the perfect spot on the shelves in the bathroom to display my new creation! I love the way this little project of mine turned out and I hope this post helped spark some creativity in you as well!
